Harvard Serves event: Breakthrough miami: Ransom Everglades School

Ransom Everglades School, 2045 South Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 (The entrance to the school is on Tigertail Avenue)


Event Description: 10-12 volunteers are needed. Alumni will meet with approximately six to eight 8th grade students in designated classroom spaces. Volunteers will meet with their assigned group and share, discuss their career journeys. Topics should include: mistakes/miscalculations made along the career journey, challenges along the career journey, their passions/motivations and how those steered them along the career journey, how they came to discover their passions/motivations, how school played a role in their career journey, what activities, clubs, sports, and service clubs played a significant role. Volunteers will engage in a round table discussion about their career journeys with six students in five or six groups. Students will be privy to volunteer bios. The objective is to facilitate small round table discussions with volunteers so a deeper sense of engagement can be established during the visit. One or two volunteers will be assigned to each small group of students.
