Tradewater is one of the few organizations addressing the top way we can reverse climate change: preventing refrigerant gases from seeping into the atmosphere.

There is a challenge though: most of the funding comes from the US, but these gases are leaking out of refrigerators and air conditioners worldwide. International funding and infrastructure is scarce. Doing the work internationally is even more expensive than in the U.S.

Tradewater has ingeniously found 3 different ways to mobilize U.S. dollars to capture these gases from leaking refrigerators and air conditioners around the world. Come learn about the path-breaking work Tradewater does, and take notes for your own venture on how to use different US funding models to create worldwide impact.

Speaker Name: Tim Brown and Gabe Plotkin

Tim Brown is a founder and the CEO of Tradewater, a company that collects and destroys greenhouse gases. To date, Tradewater has destroyed over 4,300,000 metric tons of CO2e from old refrigerants that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. He is working to open new markets and facilitate the firm’s international expansion. Tim brings to Tradewater 36 years of experience in carbon programs, environmental policy, hazardous waste cleanup, and pollution prevention.

Gabe Plotkin is a founder of Tradewater and currently serves as the COO. He oversees implementation of Tradewater’s domestic carbon offset projects and collaborates with the CEO to expand existing greenhouse gas mitigation programs and establish new ventures related to innovative technology and international carbon markets.
